BAG LIMIT:   One (1) per tag holder per year.

LEGAL ELK:   Any Antlered Elk.  

NUMBER OF PERMITS:  

15 Rifle, issued by Draw, (refer to section H2.A.Exhibit I for details).

20 Archery, issued by Draw, (refer to section H2.A. Exhibit III

for details).

LEGAL TAKING DEVICE:    Any legal firearm and/or bow & arrow as described in R1.B.

PERMIT COST:              

RIFLE: $130.00/ $5.00 Draw Application Fee.

ARCHERY: $130.00/ $5.00 Draw Application Fee.

 

OPEN AREAS:        UNIT 8 and the portion of Unit 10 between Carrizo Creek and the Amos Wash road (R-9) north of the Black River and Salt Rivers 10 ONLY. Refer to map (BLACK AREA ON MAP).

TROPHY BULL ELK RIFLE & ARCHERY

 

TROPHY ELK – ARCHERY:      THE DRAWING FOR THESE TAGS WILL TAKE PLACE ON AUGUST 21 AT 9:00 AM. THESE TAGS WILL BE SOLD TO THE SUCCESSFUL DRAW APPLICANTS BEGINNING AT 1:00 P.M. AT THE GAME & FISH OFFICE IN WHITERIVER ON AUGUST 21, 2018.

 

DEADLINE:  TO PICKUP TROPHY ELK – ARCHERY TAGS IS CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON AUGUST 30, 2018.

DEADLINE:  TO PICK UP TROPHY ELK - RIFLE TAGS IS CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON AUGUST 30, 2018. 

 

SPECIAL REGULATIONS:                                      

Hunters may hold either a Bull Elk or a Trophy Elk or a Special Bull tag, but ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO HOLD ANY COMBINATION OF THESE TAGS IN THE SAME YEAR. See section H2. for application and draw information.

 

There is a mandatory 5-year waiting period for the Trophy Bull Elk – Rifle hunt beginning with 2008 Unit 8 Trophy Bull Elk – Rifle tag holders. Successful 2017 Unit 8 Trophy Bull Elk – Rifle draw applicants will not be eligible to apply until 2023.

 

There is a mandatory 1-year waiting period for the Trophy Bull Elk – Archery hunt beginning with 2012 Trophy Bull Elk – Archery tag holders. Successful 2017 Trophy Bull Elk – Archery draw applicants will not be eligible to apply until 2019.

 

IV. PERSONS ENTERING THE RODEO/CHEDISKI and/or THE KINISHBA BURN AREAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF HUNTING DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK. `IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT PERSONS HUNTING THESE AREAS UTILIZE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE GROUND FOR ENTERING, EXITING AND PARKING. DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING, PERSONS ENTERING THESE AREAS FOR THE PURPOSE OF HUNTING SHOULD ALWAYS BE AWARE OF CURRENT AND POTENTIAL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND PLAN THEIR TRAVEL ROUTES ACCORDINGLY. THE TRIBAL GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT AND THE WHITE MOUNTAIN APACHE TRIBE ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PROPERTY LOSS, DAMAGE OR BODILY HARM INCURRED IN THESE AREAS.

V. Tribal Members attending school off of the reservation and Tribal Members employed off of the reservation may send a substitute to purchase big-game tags in their place. See section H1.A.II. for details.
